Nielsen virou celebridade pelas comédias que estrelou a partir de 1980 (Corra que a Polícia Vem Aí, Apertem os Cintos que o Piloto Sumiu, etc.).

Numa película estrelada por grandes atores, como Gene Hackmann, Ernest Borgnine, Roddy McDowall e Shelley Winters (indicada para o Oscar de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante e vencedora do Globo de Ouro de Melhor Atriz Coadjuvante), Nielsen interpretou o comandante do navio (Capitão Harrison), e é o primeiro a aparecer no vídeo (aos 0’30’’).
A canção de fundo é uma das mais belas já feitas para o cinema – "The Morning After" (Oscar de Melhor Canção Original, composta por Al Kasha e Joel Hirschhorn, e interpretada por Maureen Mcgovern).
